The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), the Governing Body of Swimming, has launched British Gas Swimfit – a fun and effective swimming session which aims to encourage existing swimmers to take a fresh look at how they spend their time in the water, and for new swimmers to take their first dip of the summer!
The latest research carried out by the ASA revealed that three quarters of women always swim the same stroke when going swimming. The new swimming programme offers an alternative way to working out in the pool – delivered by an ASA qualified instructor, there are 30 session cards which range from 10-120 lengths so there’s always something different to do in each session.
It is a fun and effective way to get those results you want, and because water is 800 times denser than air, you are most likely to get there a lot quicker than any other workout. Not only is it a great way to get fit, swimming also controls your cholesterol level, reduces your blood pressure and it increases your energy.
And once you’ve worked so hard to look your best, the last thing you want is for all that effort go to waste. The ASA have devised the innovative bite-size programme for you to make the most of your time in the pool whilst on holiday too. Almost 50% of women admit to gaining weight whilst on holiday with 1 in 3 consuming an additional 500 calories. At just 20 minutes long, this condensed exercise plan is the perfect guilt free pass to indulging on holiday and helps burn up to 200 calories with minimal impact on your rest and relaxation!
So no matter what your age, your shape or your fitness level, isn’t it time you joined up and got back into swimming to improve how you feel about yourself and your body?
